FiveGold was formed by Sir Steve Redgrave CBE in 2002. Sir Steve explains how the project came about: 'In the period leading up to winning my fifth Olympic gold medal in Sydney I was preparing for the time when I would retire from my career in international rowing. I wanted to be personally involved in a commercial enterprise in a way that would still require a high level of commitment and teamwork. An enterprise that would also provide a focus for my energy and ambition after years of intensive training and competing in the sports arena. FiveGold gave me a new direction when I most needed it. Together with my partners, the Ruia Group we have formed the company FiveGold Ltd to create and market product ranges which will consistently satisfy our FiveGold Principles:
